No Till Forage Planting
All of the forages on our farm are planted directly into the soil without tillage. This photo, taken June 8, 2007, shows planting sorghum-sudangrass into rye stubble. The rye was planted into corn stubble last fall and was harvested this spring and put into the silos. Sorghum-sudangrass is a very tall, vigorous growing plant that our cows love to eat. In the background of the pictures the short and wide blue tank holds our favorite fertilizer for corn, rye, and sudangrass - cow manure!
