rBST and our milk

Our cows have never been given the growth hormone rBST.  It is our belief that in order to get more milk from our cows, we need to do our best to provide the healthiest feed and the the most comfortable atmosphere for our cows.

Some of the steps we have taken include improved mattresses for the cows to lay on.  We've installed fans and cooling water sprinklers for the heat of the summer.  We experiment with different crops to see what our cows like to eat.  This includes the basics of corn (grain and silage) and alfalfa.  But we've seen the cows like a little more variety in their diet, so we also grow field peas, oats, rye, soybeans, clover, and sorghum-sudangrass.  The cows seem to especially like the sorghum-sudangrass.

We work very hard to bring you the best tasting and highest quality milk.  As your local dairy farm, we pledge never to give the growth hormone rBST to our cows.  The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture says that no significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST-treated cows and non-rBST-treated cows.

We're here to give you the choice.
